Neon unveiled the official trailer for writer-director Kleber Mendonça Filho‘s The Secret Agent.

The film won the Best Director prize for Filho, Best Actor for star Wagner Moura and the FIPRESCI prize at this year’s Cannes Film Festival.

Set in Brazil in 1977 during the military dictatorship, Secret Agent stars Moura as a technology expert on the run who arrives in Recife during carnival week hoping to reunite with his son. He soon realizes the city is far from being the non-violent refuge he seeks.

Maria Fernanda Cândido, Gabriel Leone, Carlos Francisco, Alice Carvalho and Hermila Guedes also star.

Neon will release the film November 26 in New York followed by December 5 in Los Angeles. Mubi has rights in the UK, Ireland, India, and Latin America excluding Brazil.
