A feature adaptation of the video game Finding Frankie is in development.
The film is being produced by Sean Robins (Mortal Kombat) alongside 13 Films and So It Goes Entertainment, with Steven C. Miller (Under Fire) signed on to direct.
The film’s screenplay has been penned by Cory Todd Hughes and Adrian Speckert (Under Fire).
“Finding Frankie is a wild mix of tension, heart, and world-building that feels tailor-made for film,” Robins said in a statement. “With 13 Films, So It Goes, and Steven C. Miller at the helm, we’re building something unique, a survival story with soul that takes the viewer on a harrowing adventure they won’t forget.”
In the game, “Upon discovering one of the three secret invitations concealed within a box of Frankie’s branded cereal, you embrace the challenge of competing against two other contestants in what initially appears to be a delightful parkour game show. However, while still rooted in parkour and obstacle courses, this game show takes an unexpected deadly turn. Frankie, Henry Hotline, and the other characters deviate from their friendly cartoon personas, revealing a more lifelike and sinister nature. As you traverse intricate and challenging parkour levels and obstacle courses, you must strive to emerge victorious while you and your fellow contestants are systematically eliminated.”
Deadline first reported on the adaptation.
