Anna Zlokovic (Appendage) is set to direct the horror film, The Broodmare.

The story follows a recovering alcoholic who travels to a remote horse breeding farm to make amends with his high school sweetheart as part of his twelve-step program. As tensions escalate, he finds himself caught in the violent crosshairs of a grand scheme orchestrated by his cult-following hosts.

Michael Voyer wrote the script.

“As soon as we read The Broodmare, we knew we had to be a part of it – it’s a searing, character-driven horror film with a finale for the ages,” said XYZ and Tea Shop. “Anna’s brilliant vision is the perfect vehicle for Michael’s writing, and we can’t wait to see it realized.”

Zlokovic added, “The Broodmare is the kind of script you don’t put down and then your jaw hits the floor by the end. I’ve never read anything like it. It’s exactly the type of movie I’ve been craving to watch: high tension, provocative storytelling that unravels into something totally unexpected.”

The film hails from XYZ Films and Tea Shop.
