Jason Isaacs (The White Lotus) is set to star in the upcoming thriller Silverback.

Tom Vaughan-Lawlor (Avengers, Rialto) also stars.

The film sees a notorious criminal move in next door to a stay-at-home dad, who must weigh the benefits of their new friendship against the deadly threat it poses to his family.

The film marks the feature directorial debut of Irish writer/director Steve Kenny and has been boarded by Bankside Films, which will launch worldwide sales at the upcoming American Film Market.

Silverback is a tale about the power dynamics of male friendship, the responsibility of fatherhood, and our capacity for violence,” said Kenny. “The lead performances are the centrepiece of our story, and in Tom and Jason, we have two incredible actors perfectly suited to bring these primal concerns to life.”

Collie McCarthy produces for Forty Foot Pictures, with support from Screen Ireland.

Executive producers are Paul Grindey for Viewfinder Film and Greg Martin for Screen Ireland.

“What would you do if a notorious but charismatic criminal moved in next door and not only seemed to respect you, but was intent on becoming your best friend?” said McCarthy. “That is the question Steve posed to me a few years ago, and is the crux of his simmering debut feature, Silverback. I’m so excited to see Tom and Jason play out that conundrum on screen.”

Variety first reported on the film.
