The stage was set in the House of Blues for what I consider the new face of the alternative scene. Violent Vira was headlining a show with Brayton and Ivri as openers. All three artists bringing a unique vibe to their sets but still fit in same sphere of music. The energy was felt as you walked in with about 10 minutes to go before the show started. There were tons of movement and noise in the venue from the very diverse crowd where everyone was just ready for one thing, incredible music.
Brayton opened up the show with so much intensity that really riled up the crowd. The musician was able to grab the audience after the first song. I’ve attended numerous concerts over the last decade and for an opener to be able to capture the crowd is a hard feat. There was a sincerity in his performance and electrifying persona. Brayton combines melodic riffs through his lyrics about heartbreak which are punctuated by blistering screams. The singer also showcases an amazing stage presence and being able to keep the crowd hype well after the lights came back on. I hadn’t listened to any of Brayton’s music prior to coming to the show but that will quickly change after. As a fan of Sleeping with Sirens and Bring Me The Horizon there was a lot I like about this performer. I think Brayton really left his mark on the crowd with their cover of King For A Day which had the whole venue screaming along. Definitely someone to keep on your radar.

Once Brayton departed the crowd stayed very lively as more people were crowding around the stage. Ivri was up next and there were definitely more people there aware of who she was. Tower of Memories is currently her biggest song and a trending audio on Tik Tok. Ivri brought a whole different vibe to the show which was more melodic but still intense. I wasn’t familiar with Ivri’s music besides Tower of Memories, so I wasn’t entirely sure what to expect. I was blown away by the layers in her music that ranged from glitch-pop to emo with some heavier tones. Ivri like Brayton performed a cover as well which definitely lit up the crowd. Ivri performed Deftones Be Quiet and Drive (Far Away) which definitely could fit in the same subgenre that Ivri’s music is in. I definitely came away this performance appreciating and enjoying more of Ivri’s melodic and dreamy music.

You definitely felt the energy get cranked up to the max as fans awaited Violent Vira. There was more movement in the front as fans wanted to get much closer to the headliner. I also want to point out that throughout the concert there was a mission the fans wanted to accomplish. A person was holding a poster with an internet cat named Larry and the fans started chanting Larry various times. I found out after the show that this is actually an inside joke that is shared between the fans and the band. Clearly there is a deep connection here that isn’t seen as much lately in music. The atmosphere shifted once the interlude for Violent Vira played and the atmosphere picked up. Violent Vira made it on to the stage and with no hesitation brought a tremendous roar that continued into the opening song. I was only familiar with a couple of Violent Vira songs which I enjoyed. It’s clear that Violent Vira is a fan of those before them with so much flair and showmanship from previous acts. The crowd control that Vira showcases is of those bands that have been touring for ages. I’d also like to add that vocals were on another level from heavy screams to melodic singing. Violent Vira is a perfect package of a little of everything you want from a band in this genre. I became a believer that we will be seeing Violent Vira go very far and happy to have been able to attend this tour.

I definitely felt a surge of energy after the concert I hadn’t felt in a long time. We hear it too often that rock is dead and of course its always been a thing over the years. I remember over a decade ago people claimed rock was dead but everyone still wanted the old school Hot Topic band tees. I don’t think rock ever dies but I do think people just don’t want to look for those new and fresh acts that are doing some cool stuff. I have three of them here for you and all are worth checking out
