Sony Pictures’ Helldivers film adaptation has found its writer and director.

Justin Lin (The Fast and the Furious) is set to direct with Gary Dauberman, the writer for IT and Annabelle writing the script, based on the popular video game franchise from Arrowhead Game Studios.

Lin will also produce the film via his Perfect Storm Entertainment banner, with Hutch Parker and PlayStation Productions’ Asad Qizilbash and Carter Swan co-producing.

Lin aims to “find the humanity in the characters and weave timely themes” into the story for the film adaptation, while building out a world and mythology.
