The road to The Odyssey will officially kick off this weekend if you’re going to watch Sinners or One Battle After Another. Audiences will be treated to the nearly six-minute prologue of The Odyssey on Dec. 12 ahead of IMAX 70mm screenings of both movies which are returning to the big screen for re-releases. The following weekend, a shorter (but still full-length) version of The Odyssey trailer will play ahead of all Avatar: Fire and Ash showings, which start on Dec. 19. The prologue will be exclusive to Avatar: Fire and Ash screenings.

The extended trailer is debuting on IMAX 70mm screens not only because it is Nolan’s preferred format, but also because The Odyssey will be the first movie shot entirely with IMAX cameras. While we wait of course there has been already a tease for The Odyssey. over the summer. A minute-long teaser was unveiled ahead of Jurassic World Rebirth and Superman showings, creating excitement a year before the film lands in theaters. The new prologue will surely just continue that fire for fans that eagerly await the summer release.

An adaptation of the Homer’s Greek epic, The Odyssey stars Matt Damon as Odysseus, the king of Ithaca, and chronicles his long and perilous return home after the Trojan War. Tom Holland portrays his son Telemachus while Anne Hathaway, Zendaya, Lupita Nyong’o, Robert Pattinson, Charlize Theron and Jon Bernthal round out the ensemble.

The Odyssey will release in theaters on July 17th 2026.
