Oscar winner Catherine Zeta-Jones (“Wednesday,” Chicago) will star in the psychological thriller, Cupid.

It is directed by Tate Taylor (Ma, The Help) and written by brothers Carey & Shane Van Dyke (Don’t Worry Darling, Chernobyl Diaries).

It follows a couple whose relationship is on the rocks as they try to repair their marriage over the course of a weekend at the home of a seemingly helpful but unorthodox marriage counselor. What starts out as a hopeful endeavor quickly turns dark as her methods become crueler and more dangerous.

Taylor will produce alongside his partner John Norris and Ryan Donnell Smith (The Pale Blue Eye).

“You may never want to seek counseling again,” said Taylor. “Or perhaps you will, assuming you can handle it. I’m thrilled to take this journey with Catherine. There is no better artist to bring this unique thriller to life.”

Upgrade will be launching international sales at the European Film Market in Berlin this week. CAA Media Finance is handling U.S. distribution rights.

Cupid brings together stellar talent on both sides of the camera,” said Upgrade’s Jonathan Kier. “This is a smart, contained genre film with real scale in the marketplace, with a global star and a director who has consistently delivered successful, audience-driven thrillers, and we’re excited to launch it at EFM.”
