Deadline has reported that Steven Yeun will be reuniting with director Bong Joon Ho on Ho’s next feature film at Warner Bros. The film is based on the novel Mickey7 by Edward Ashton.
Mickey7 was published in February. The novel follow’s Mickey7, an Expendable: a disposable employee on a human expedition sent to colonize Niflheim. Whenever there’s a mission that’s too dangerous, the crew turns to Mickey. After one version dies, a new body is regenerated. After six deaths, Mickey7 understands the terms of his deal. Bong’s past experiences with adaptations may result in a completely new version of this story for the actual film.
The project is Bong’s first since his 2019 film Parasite. The film received many honors and accolades. Along with Bong, Steven Yeun has several big projects that he will be involved with. Yeun is starring in Jordan Peele’s Nope, and Netflix and A24 series Beef. Most recently, he appeared in the A24 film Minari.
