Variety has announced that Daniel Kaluuya will not be returning for his role in Black Panther 2.
Kaluuya played W’Kabi in 2018’s Black Panther. W’Kabi is the best friend and confidant of T’Challa, played by Chadwick Boseman. W’Kabi is also head of security for the Border Tribe.
Sources close to Kaluuya told Variety, that Kaluuya was asked to return for Black Panther 2, but that he was already committed to star in Jordan Peele’s upcoming film, Nope. Kaluuya has previously worked with Peele on Get Out, which earned him an Oscar-nomination.
The news was initially released on Twitter by Jacqueline Coley of Rotten Tomatoes.
