Neve Campbell’s decision not to reprise her role as Sidney Prescott in Scream came as a shock to fans of the horror franchise.
Despite starring in every installment of Scream, Campbell revealed in June that she will not be returning for Scream 6. Campbell emphasized that the decision was negotiation-related, and that she did not feel valued. In an interview with PEOPLE, she states “I did not feel that what I was being offered equated to the value that I bring to this franchise, and have brought to this franchise, for 25 years.”
Campbell continues, “I honestly don’t believe that if I were a man and had done five installments of a huge blockbuster franchise over 25 years, that the number that I was offered would be the number that would be offered to a man.”
Courteney Cox, who has also been a part of every installment of Scream will be returning to the sixth installment. Jenna Ortega, Melissa Barrera, Jasmin Savoy Brown and Mason Gooding are all set to reprise their roles from the fifth film.
Although she will not be returning in Scream 6, Campbell has several other projects in the works, including Netflix’s The Lincoln Lawyer and Peacock’s Twisted Metal. She is also a part of The Red Cross’ new PSA to encourage others to donate blood.
