Better Call Saul and Breaking Bad co-creator, Vince Gilligan, is beginning work on a new drama series. It is in the works to be pitched to 8-9 networks.

Vince Gilligan

The project comes from Sony Pictures TV, where Gilligan has been under an overall deal with for a long time. The new series will be a departure from the world of drug and crime which he explored in Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul. It will bring Gilligan’s experience during The X-Files, but the series will not be sci-fi.

The drama will explore bending reality, with an emphasis on the human condition. The project is also being compared to The Twilight Zone. The new project will incorporate Gilligan’s signature blend of humor and drama. Gilligan will include written material during his pitch. “It is envisioned to play over a couple of seasons with an overreaching story arc.”
