Kobi Libbi’s directorial debut, The American Society of Magical Negroes has a new trailer and poster.

“The film is a fresh, satirical comedy about a young man, Aren, who is recruited into a secret society of magical Black people who dedicate their lives to a cause of utmost importance: making white people’s lives easier.”

The cast includes Justice Smith (Dungeons and Dragons: Honor Among Thieves), David Alan Grier (They Cloned Tyrone), An-Li Bogan (After Yang), Drew Tarver (Bajillion Dollar Propertie$), Michaela Watkins (You Hurt My Feelings), Rupert Friend (Asteroid City), and Nicole Byer (Nailed It!).

The film’s producers are Julia Lebedev p.g.a., Eddie Vaisman p.g.a., Angel Lopez p.g.a., and Kobi Libii p.g.a. The executive producers are Mike Upton, Oren Moverman, and Leonid Lebedev.

The American Society of Magical Negroes will have its world premiere at the 2024 Sundance Film Festival. Focus Features will release the film theatrically March 22, 2024.
