Horror Movies Coming Out In 2024

The new year is right around the corner, and with it comes tons of new movies. We’re excited for this upcoming year of horror, and have a list of some of our most anticipated horror films coming 2024.

Night Swim

From Blumhouse, Night Swim will release January 5, 2024. Written and directed by Bryce McGuire, the film stars Wyatt Russell, Kerry Condon, Amélie Hoeferle and Gavin Warren. “A woman swimming in her pool at night is terrorized by an evil spirit.”

Your Monster

Melissa Barrera stars in Your Monster from writer/director Caroline Lindy, which releases January 18, 2024. “Laura Franco (Barrera) is a young actress enduring a cancer diagnosis and upsetting relationship breakup when she discovers a terrifying, yet weirdly charming Monster (Dewey) living in her closet.”

Lisa Frankenstein

Zelda Williams makes her feature directorial debut with Lisa Frankenstein which releases February 9, 2024. Written by Diablo Cody, it stars Kathryn Newton, Cole Sprouse, Liza Soberano, Henry Eikenberry, Joe Chrest and Carla Gugino. “A misunderstood teenager and a reanimated corpse embark on a murderous journey to find love, happiness and a few missing body parts.”

Imaginary

From Blumhouse, we have Imaginary which will release March 8, 2024. Imaginary is directed and produced by Jeff Wadlow and written by Wadlow, Greg Erb and Jason Oremland. The film stars DeWanda Wise, Tom Payne, Taegen Burns, Pyper Braun, Veronica Falcón and Betty Buckley.  “A woman returns to her childhood home to discover that the imaginary friend she left behind is very real and unhappy that she abandoned him.”

The First Omen

A prequel to The Omen (1976) is on the way, with a release date of April 5, 2024. It is directed by Arkasha Stevenson, and written by Stevenson, Tim Smith and Keith Thomas, from a story by Ben Jacoby. It stars Nell Tiger Free, Tawfeek Barhom, Sônia Braga, Ralph Ineson, and Bill Nighy. “A woman starts to question her own faith when she uncovers a terrifying conspiracy to bring about the birth of evil incarnate in Rome.”

The Strangers: Chapter 1

The Strangers: Chapter 1 is directed by Renny Harlin, and written by Alan R. Cohen, Alan Freedland and Amber Loutfi. It will release May 17, 2024, and stars Madelaine Petsch and Froy Gutierrez and is the third film in The Strangers film series. “Maya drives across the country with her longtime boyfriend, Ryan, as the pair begin a new life together in the Pacific Northwest. Along the way, their car breaks down in Venus, Oregon and they are forced to spend the night in an isolated Airbnb home. Through the night they are terrorized by three murderous masked strangers.”

A Quiet Place: Day One

A Quiet Place: Day One is written and directed by Michael Sarnoski, based on an original story by John Krasinski. It is intended to be a spin-off prequel, and the third overall installment of the A Quiet Place film series. The film stars Lupita Nyong’o, Joseph Quinn, Alex Wolff, Djimon Hounsou, and Denis O’Hare. It is set to release June 28, 2024. “A woman fights for survival during an alien invasion in New York City.”

Alien: Romulus

Alien: Romulus is a standalone installment in the Alien franchise, set between the events of Alien (1979) and Aliens (1986). It is directed by Fede Álvarez who co-wrote it with Rodo Sayagues. It stars Cailee Spaeny, Isabela Merced, David Jonsson, Archie Renaux, Spike Fearn, and Aileen Wu. The film is scheduled to be theatrically released on August 16, 2024. Plot details are currently under wraps.

Beetlejuice 2

Beetlejuice 2 is directed by Tim Burton from a screenplay by Alfred Gough and Miles Millar, based on a story by Seth Grahame-Smith. The film is the sequel to Beetlejuice (1988) and stars Michael Keaton, Winona Ryder, Catherine O’Hara, Jenna Ortega, Monica Bellucci, and Willem Dafoe. It will release September 6, 2024.

Terrifier 3

The third installment of Terrifier will release October 25, 2024. It is written and directed by Damien Leone, and it stars Lauren LaVera, Elliott Fullam, David Howard Thornton, and Samantha Scaffidi, who reprise their roles from prior films. “Art the Clown unleashes bloody chaos on Christmas Eve.”

Nosferatu

Probably our most anticipated film has to be Robert Eggers’ Nosferatu. It stars Bill Skarsgård, Lily-Rose Depp, Nicholas Hoult, Willem Dafoe, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Emma Corrin, Simon McBurney, and Ralph Ineson. Following Nosferatu the Vampyre (1979), it is the second remake of the 1922 film of the same name written by Henrik Galeen and directed by F. W. Murnau, which in turn is an “unauthorised and unofficial” adaptation of Bram Stoker’s 1897 novel Dracula.
