A faux ad for Blumhouse film Imaginary, gives us a closer look at the film’s sinister plushie, Chauncey the Bear.
In the ad, Chauncey is introduced as a sweet and cuddly companion. However, it quickly turns sinister, showing how the bear will follow you around and “never” leave you alone.
Here’s the synopsis: “When Jessica (DeWanda Wise) moves back into her childhood home with her family, her youngest stepdaughter Alice (Pyper Braun) develops an eerie attachment to a stuffed bear named Chauncey she finds in the basement. Alice starts playing games with Chauncey that begin playful and become increasingly sinister. As Alice’s behavior becomes more and more concerning, Jessica intervenes only to realize Chauncey is much more than the stuffed toy bear she believed him to be.”
The film is directed by Jeff Wadlow (Truth or Dare) with screenplay by Wadlow, Greg Erb, and Jason Oremland. It is produced by Jason Blum, Jeff Wadlow, p.g.a. The Imaginary cast includes DeWanda Wise (She’s Gotta Have It), Tom Payne (The Walking Dead), Taegen Burns (The Gateway), Pyper Braun (Country Comfort), with Veronica Falcon (Queen of the South), and Betty Buckley (Split).
Imaginary releases in theaters March 8, 2024.
