Evil Dead Rise has brought back the Evil Dead franchise, and it looks to not be stopping anytime soon. The recent revival for Evil Dead film was a massive success so the sequel of course was already on the way. It also has a new director attached to take on the film in the franchise.

Deadline reports today that Sébastien Vaniček has been hired by Sam Raimi and Rob Tapert’s Ghost House Pictures to direct an untitled Evil Dead spinoff movie. “Details as to the film’s plot are under wraps,” Deadline notes. The director is not a newcomer when it comes to gross out horror. Sebastien came across for us at Culture Elixir with their feature Infested last year. We got the chance to watch the movie at Fantastic Fest back in September and were floored. Infested not only feels like a return to bug horror but also has some similar notes to Evil Dead Rise. Sebastien’s skin crawling horror about spiders taking over a high rise apartment complex was such a terrifying experience. You can read our review for the film here.

Infested literally might have been all Sam Raimi and company had to see to know who can deliver a great Evil Dead movie. Infested made its North American premiere at Fantastic Fest and has been acquired by Shudder for distribution. We can’t wait until everyone gets a chance to watch this film and experience the horror. We will give an update of when Infested can be watched as well when they announce a release date for the new Evil Dead
