‘Evil Dead’ Filmmaker Sébastien Vaniček Teases “A Nasty Film… a Film That Hurts”

Evil Dead will return with a new spinoff movie with French filmmaker Sébastien Vaniček (Infested) on board to direct. We don’t know anything about this new installment in the franchise right now, but the website Konbini did manage to get some thoughts from Vaniček.

Vaniček’s Evil Dead will be an experience that will haunt you according to the director.

“I told the studio that I wanted to make a nasty film, a film that hurts, from which you come away tested,” Vaniček tells the outlet, suggesting he’s the right man for the job. “I’m going to put all the horror I have inside, it will be cathartic, and if I haven’t ruined my career and I can continue to make films behind it, I will move on to something other than horror!”

All of that gets us excited but when exactly will the vision come to the big screen? Vaniček talks about this in the same interview,

If all goes well, we could start filming at the end of 2024-beginning of 2025, for a release that I hope for Halloween 2025.”

Sam Raimi and company have also given him “100% creative freedom” and he also mentioned it will have a “French twist.” We loved Infested at Fantastic Fest from the director last year and are excited to see what the Evil Dead franchise will look with him behind it.

Keep following us for more info on the upcoming sixth Evil Dead movie.
