‘Mufasa: The Lion King’ CinemaCon Footage Description

Director Barry Jenkins appeared at CinemaCon to show off a trailer from Mufasa: The Lion King.

Talking about the film, Jenkins had this to say, “This film explores Mufasa’s rise to become the heroic king that we know.”

The logline: Simba, having become king of the Pride Lands, is determined for his cub to follow in his paw prints while the origins of his late father Mufasa are explored. Check out a description of the footage shown at CinemaCon below.

According to Variety, “The brief but majestic footage, which isn’t yet available to the public, explores the same stunningly realistic African savannah as its predecessor and begins with the iconic “Lion King” overture. A young Mufasa is seen leaping over rhinos and all kinds of jungle creatures as a voiceover from Rafiki sets the scene for a story about “a lion who was born without a drop of nobility in its blood… a lion who would change our lives forever… a lion who will shape our destiny.””

It is set to release December 20.
