Final Destination Bloodlines serves as a prequel and ending to the Final Destination franchise. The film comes 14 years after Final Destination 5 but is the return needed? I am here to tell you that yes, indeed, this is great place to pick up the franchise. Let’s get into Bloodlines!

The Final Destination Bloodlines synopsis can be found below.

“Stefani Reyes is a college student who inherits a sudden premonition her grandmother had in 1968 about a tower collapse and attempts to save her entire family after Death starts killing them one by one because they should never have existed.”

Let’s start off with of course what’s on everyone’s minds. How crazy do the events and kills get in the film? Bloodlines truly pushes the envelope when it comes to the kills with some of the goriest ones yet. I was even wincing at a point with how far it decides to go. It still also maintains a bit of slapstick element and truly has you feeling shocked. This is what makes the franchise what it is and it really works great as a dark comedy. I found myself also intrigued at the creativity of each of the kills, leaving you bracing for what’s next. We are 5 movies deep into the franchise and there’s a strong chance things can feel fatigued and over done, however, Bloodlines does enough to inject some freshness to the decades long franchise.

Is this movie even needed, or does it feel like everything we’ve seen before? I will tell you that I myself was a bit scared going into this one because of these thoughts. Is there really a need for another Final Destination and can it be different from what we’ve seen? Well, the answer is yes, this movie is truly needed and what you wanted from the franchise. Final Destination Bloodlines almost serves as a prequel and also a true sequel to the franchise. The film revolves around getting to the root of why all of the events in this film and the previous ones are happening. I was really invested in the story as soon as the film started and felt the film was conclusive.

The film feels different than the rest as it revolves more around family and the set up was very well done. It’s not trying to reinvent anything and that’s okay in my opinion. All of the setup from previous films feels formulaic and like “been there done that.” However, Bloodlines does a good job at adding enough turns throughout to keep you engaged. A lot of which serve as great comedic relief and genuine shock. It’s definitely going to be a fun horror summer flick.

Final Destination Bloodlines is now in theaters, so definitely check it out first a fun time!
