Osgood Perkins is working on a new Longlegs film with Nicolas Cage returning to star and produce.

However, the film’s original distributor Neon is not returning. Due to the budget and scope of the new film, Paramount Pictures is taking over the role.

The new Longlegs film isn’t a direct sequel and is instead “set in the Longlegs universe.”

Perkins will once again direct, write and produce the new film.

In Longlegs, “FBI Agent Lee Harker (Maika Monroe) is a gifted new recruit assigned to the unsolved case of an elusive serial killer (Cage). As the case takes complex turns, unearthing evidence of the occult, Harker discovers a personal connection to the merciless killer and must race against time to stop him before he claims the lives of another family.”

Also producing are Brian Kavanaugh Jones of Range Media, Chris Ferguson, Perkins’ partner at their company Phobos, and Dave Caplan of C2, which financed the initial movie.

THR first reported on the new film.
