Paramount Pictures is re-releasing Top Gun in theaters to celebrate the film’s 40th anniversary.
The film returns to theaters on May 13 and will be available for one week alongside Top Gun: Maverick.
Paramount also recently confirmed that a third Top Gun movie is currently in development.
The Top Gun Naval Fighter Weapons School is where the best of the best train to refine their elite flying skills. When hotshot fighter pilot Maverick (Tom Cruise) is sent to the school, his reckless attitude and cocky demeanor put him at odds with the other pilots, especially the cool and collected Iceman (Val Kilmer). But Maverick isn’t only competing to be the top fighter pilot, he’s also fighting for the attention of his beautiful flight instructor, Charlotte Blackwood (Kelly McGillis).
Top Gun: Maverick follows Lt. Pete “Maverick” Mitchell as he goes back to the famous flight school to teach a new set of pilots how to successfully run a mission. Miles Teller played Bradley “Rooster” Bradshaw, the son of “Goose,” played by Anthony Edwards in the 1986 first film, who dies during a training exercise.
