A new Westworld movie is in development at Warner Bros., with David Koepp (Jurassic Park, Disclosure Day) writing the screenplay.
Deadline notes, “Koepp is writing the script and a major filmmaker is circling.”
Michael Crichton both wrote and directed the original 1973 movie, centered on a robot malfunction that creates havoc for vacationers at a futuristic, adult-themed amusement park.
Yul Brynner, Richard Benjamin and James Brolin starred in the film.
HBO’s recent Westworld series was created for television by Jonathan Nolan & Lisa Joy.
The sci-fi series starred Evan Rachel Wood, Thandie Newton, Ed Harris, Jeffrey Wright, Tessa Thompson, Luke Hemsworth, Angela Sarafyan, Aaron Paul, and Ariana Debose.
