Obsession clearly has become the hit of the year as its now eyeing a 300 million dollar run. It makes it one of the more profitable films in quite some time. This of course means with Hollywood that a sequel would be on the way and Barker already has some ideas.

Curry Barker had talked about turning Obsession into an anthology TV series centered on the One Wish Willow. Barker’s idea was to have other filmmakers come on to give their own interpretation of the One Wish Willow.

Barker told Total Film back in May,

“I do see Obsession 2 [happening], maybe. Or even, what really is exciting to me, is maybe an anthology. Like a one-hour episode… each episode is a different wish that goes completely off the rails.”

It seems now though that Barker is more interested in bringing his own vision for a sequel. This is a complete turn from what he said earlier in the year. Check out what he said to The Hollywood Reporter below.

Barker spoke with The Hollywood Reporter in a new interview this week,

“I have a lot to weigh and that’s where the stress really comes from. I don’t know what to do next. I don’t want to go straight into Obsession 2. I have such a cool idea for it that I won’t say. I’m not saying it has to be five, six years from now. But I think people would be just as excited for it if it came a little down the road. It’s a whirlwind and I’m trying to figure it out.”

The possibilities do seem endless for a sequel to Obsession and would definitely be exciting. Barker talks about having to wait for the sequel, but I do see the appeal and impact of Obsession lasting. This would make the sequel much more anticipated even if we do have to wait for it.
