Sony 3000 Pictures and Spyglass Media have released the official trailer for the upcoming film adaptation of Kazuo Ishiguro’s Klara and the Sun, starring Jenna Ortega.

Based on the bestselling novel from Nobel Prize-winner Ishiguro and written and directed by Oscar winner Taika Waititi (Jojo Rabbit), Klara and the Sun introduces audiences to Klara (Jenna Ortega), an Artificial Friend (AF) who wants nothing more than to find the perfect home.

Waititi wrote the screenplay with Dahvi Waller, based on Ishiguro’s novel, which published in March 2021. The film is produced by David Heyman, Garrett Basch and Waititi. Executive producers include Gary Barber, Alex G. Scott, Jeffrey Clifford, Rosie Alison and author Kazuo Ishiguro.

Aran Murphy, son of Oscar winner Cillian Murphy, stars alongside Ortega, Amy Adams, Mia Tharia and Natasha Lyonne.

Klara and the Sun hits theaters October 23.
