Viva Kids has acquired a trio animated films to add to their upcoming release calendar Treasure Trekkers, Space Cadet and Pirate Mo and the Legend of the Red Ruby. The acquisition comes on the heals of their release The Last Whale Singer which will be screened at the upcoming Annecy International Animation Film Festival later this month. The films’ release schedules are to be announced.

“Annecy is the epicenter where the future of animation takes shape, and we’re thrilled to bring The Last Whale Singer to the festival this year while expanding our slate with these three exceptional acquisitions. Treasure TrekkersSpace Cadet, which resonated so strongly at Annecy last year, and Pirate Mo and the Legend of the Red Ruby. Each brings distinctive storytelling, immersive worlds, and unforgettable characters that align with our vision for premium family entertainment. Together with our growing portfolio, these films represent our strategic commitment to building enduring animated brands and franchises that will captivate North American audiences for years to come,” noted Victor Elizalde, President of Viva Pictures.

Treasure Trekkers is based on J.S. Friedman’s beloved children’s book series “Maurice’s Valises,” which follows the adventures of young explorers on quests around the world. The books have captivated audiences with their tales of discovery, friendship, and the realization that true treasure lies in compassion and connection. The feature film brings these cherished stories to life with a star-studded voice cast and stunning animation. Directed by Kevin Munroe (writer, TMNTMy Little Pony: The Movie), the film features an all-star voice cast including Alan Cumming (TV’s “The Traitors,” ”The Good Wife,” Jack McBrayer (TV’s “30 Rock,” “Phineas and Ferb”), Greg Cipes (TV’s “Teen Titans Go,” “Beast Boy: Lone Wolf”), Tara Strong (TV’s “Gabby’s Doll House,” “Teen Titans Go”),  Meredith Bull (TV’s “Pinkalicious & Peterrific”), and John DiMaggio (TV’s “The Loud House,” “Teen Titans Go”). Treasure Trekkers is produced by B Water Animation Studios and Squeeze Studio Animation.

Directed by Kid Koala (Eric San) and produced by Outsider Films, Space Cadet tells the tale of astronaut Celeste who launches into space on her first solo mission, leaving behind Robot, the guardian who raised her. Alone for the first time, each must confront what it means to let go. As Celeste faces unexpected dangers in the vast reaches of space, her memories become her only compass. A visually stunning meditation on connection and solitude, told entirely through image and an original score by Kid Koala; featuring Karen and Emilíana Torrini.

Adapted from “Seeräubermoses” by Kirsten Boie, Pirate Mo and the Legend of the Red Ruby is a swashbuckling adventure full of heart, guts, and hope for a better world, led by a young girl whose goodness is matched only by her derring-do. Produced by Ulysses Filmproduktion, Letterbox Filmproduktion, Isla Molona, Arxlight, Lightbox Animation and Arx Anima and directed by Florian Westerman.

The deals were negotiated by Mayank Jhalani for Viva Pictures, Jason Bressand for Treasure Trekkers and Florencia Gil (Urban Sales) for Space Cadet. Gamze Celik oversees rights for Pirate Mo and the Legend of the Red Ruby.
