The first trailer for The Weight, the directorial debut of Padraic McKinley has been unveiled.

When Samuel (Ethan Hawke) is torn from his daughter and sent to a brutal prison, Warden Clancy (Russell Crowe) offers him a high-stakes proposition: smuggle gold out of a remote mine with a dangerous crew of prisoners and he’ll win his freedom.

Julia Jones, Austin Amelio, Avi Nash, Sam Hazeldine, Avy Berry, George Burgess, and Lucas Lynggaard Tonnesen also star.

Matthew Booi and Shelby Gaines penned the screenplay from a story by Booi & Leo Scherman and Matthew Chapman.

The Weight hits theaters on September 18.
