Paul Feig (Ghostbusters, The Housemaid) will also be directing a new horror movie titled Detention for Blumhouse Atomic Monster.

Feig will direct Detention for Blumhouse Atomic Monster and Platinum Dunes, with the film’s spec screenplay written by Daniel Gold.

Deadline notes, “While the plot is being kept under wraps, sources say the film will be a horror thriller, which excited Feig, who, after successfully directing global hit The Housemaid this past Christmas, wanted to try something even darker.”

The outlet adds, “No studio is attached, but sources say Universal likely will get a first crack at it given its relationship with Platinum Dunes and Blumhouse Atomic Monster.”

Producers on Detention include Michael Bay, Jason Blum, Brad Fuller, Cameron Fuller, Paul Feig and Laura Fischer. Steven Schneider will executive produce the horror film.
