Veteran independent film producer and Cartuna founder James Belfer has launched a new home video label, Video Visions. The company will release Limited Edition, Collector’s Edition and Standard Edition Blu-rays; the discs will be designed in close collaboration with filmmakers and sold directly on Video Visions’ website. As of today, Wednesday September 23, the online store is open for pre-orders. Belfer is also building a physical store titled Video Visions Too in Chatham, NY, set to open its doors in 2027. The company (and store) pays tribute to the ethos of the original Video Visions, a locally revered rental store owned and operated by Stephen Campbell for nearly 40 years before his passing in 2024.
Titles in the collection range from festival darlings to fringe favorites, and lean toward visceral, provocative, experimental, and DIY works that will get the canonical treatment Belfer feels they deserve. They include: Grace Glowicki’s DEAD LOVER (with a Stink-O-Vision card included); the rotoscope-animated folk-horror and Latvia’s 2026 Oscar entry DOG OF GOD; Penny Lane’s acclaimed documentary OUR NIXON; a collector’s edition of Todd Rohal’s FUCK MY SON!; Braden Sitter Sr.’s microbudget cult comedy THE PEE PEE POO POO MAN; a new restoration of Bruce Bickford’s legendary claymation PROMETHEUS’ GARDEN; Cristóbal León and Joaquín Cociña’s Cannes surrealist drama THE HYPERBOREANS; and a new edition of HUNDREDS OF BEAVERS, which is getting a fur covered slipcase treatment.
