LIVING HELL has surprise launched its first open playtest on Steam, making the game playable for the first time to the public.

The announcement also came with a new trailer and confirmed that LIVING HELL is coming to Steam in 2027. The game is developed by Joe Fender and published by Future Friends Games (CloverPit, Queen’s Domain, The Cabin Factory).

LIVING HELL is a 1-4 player co-op survival horror game set in Pelican City. The collapse of the ozone layer triggered widespread, terrifying mutations. Capture specimens and turn them into biofuel to power your train: your last chance to reach one of the remaining rockets and escape Earth.

Your only way across the city is the abandoned subway. Keep the train running, travel through seven unique districts and reach one of the remaining rocket launch sites before it’s too late to get out.

Leave the safety of the train and explore dangerous, handcrafted locations in search of mutated specimens. Process them into biofuel for the train and scavenge materials to craft what you’ll need to survive the journey ahead.

Blistering heat and solar radiation are threats of their own. Manage your Thermal Load and find ways to stay cool, or risk mutating and turning against your team. Defensive cryo weapons will give you an edge against mutated creatures.

Each journey through Pelican City follows a different subway route, changing the path you take to reach the launch site. Along the way, face a variety of mutated creatures, each with unique behaviours.
