Saw X is the latest installment in the Saw franchise. It brings back the series to its roots with a film taking in between Saw 2 and Saw 3. Tobin Bell returns as the infamous Jigsaw killer in a test put together with Amanda Young. We follow as John Kramer is duped by con artists into receiving a cancer treatment. John believes this and pays a generous amount of money for the treatment. Once they discharge John, he realizes it was all a scam and we witness him return to his tricks.

John and Amanda proceed to put the whole team through a test for survival. We see as they carve up their skin, smash their limbs , and even saw through them. Ultimately only one remains and that is Cecilia but as the final game begins there’s an interruption. Parker who we met earlier coming for the treatment tries to receive their money again. We then realize Parker is in on the scam as well and with Cecilia put John into his own game. They decide to teach John a lesson and have him choose between his life or the one of a young boy he met earlier. Cecilia and Parker try to leave with the money only to realize that John had this all planned out. Diego the first man put through the game actually had told John was in on the scame as well earlier. John accounted for Parker returning and thus setting up the final game for Cecilia and him. The two must fight to the death as the room fills with poisonous gas and theres only one hole for one head.

Ultimately Cecilia comes out as the victor but will now be stuck as they witness John, Carlos, and Amanda leave. We then get a post credits with Detective Hoffman and Jigsaw starting a new game for Henry Kessler. Henry is the man who told John about the fake scam in the beginning of the film. It’s clear that we might be getting another story taking place in between movies with John still alive. It’s interesting that Jigsaw was actually killed in Saw 3 which they even said might have been a mistake.

In the end we see Jigsaw finally coming full circle to what he does. This full realization really sets the tone for where we ultimately see John in Saw 3. It also teases just where Amanda and Detective Hoffman are when it comes to following Kramer. Hoffman of course took over after John’s death in Saw 3 so we could possibly see a movie with the two of them like we saw with Amanda.
